Another week, another TEN OF THE BEST playlist. For some reason I have been really feeling roots reggae over the last few weeks so that has translated onto the playlist. If you like roots and slow tempo dancehall, this playlist is dedicated to you. Listen and enjoy. Blessings

Check out the spotify playlist at the bottom of this post:

This week’s playlist, in no particular order:

Hold On – Keznamdi

The man makes it 2 weeks in a row on my playlist, solid effort. Speaking of solid efforts, this tune is on point. Uplifting vibes on a rootsy riddim means this tune just can’t miss.

Let Jah Be Praised – Dre Island

Wicked tune from an absolutely gifted vocalist. On this riddim Dre Island shows off his chops, and his choice of melodies is really good. I recently had an interesting conversation with a friend who reckons Dre Island bests the Marley brothers when it comes to vocal delivery…What do you think?

Stronger – Assassin aka Agent Sasco

I somehow managed to sleep on Agent Sasco’s album “Theory of Reggaetivity” until it was forcefed to me by my bro Ashford (Shottaz), thanks dude lol. This tune immediately stood out to me when I was listening to the album. Sasco’s lyrical ability was never in question, and his delivery never disappoints, but this tune is just special. Replay value on a hundred.

No Solidarity – Gentleman X Ky-Mani Marley

In case it’s not painfully apparent yet, I’ve been hooked to the album released by these guys last year. This tune is on a level, tight live production and solid vocals, what more can one ask for? The bridge is amazing btw…

Be Yourself – Bugle

I remember a time when Bugle was always on repeat at my old flat. Though he has flown under the radar over the last few years, he has managed to release enough gems regularly to keep him relevant in my books. On this tune the man doesn’t disappoint. Big tune on an understated riddim which allows the message to be delivered without too much fuss.

Just The Way You Are – Tarrus Riley

Mr Riley again, and he never disappoints. This tune has been on repeat since it was released and I have waiting for the perfect playlist to place it on. Can’t say much more than just press play and enjoy.

No Problem – Romain Virgo X Bugle

An unprecedented 2 appearances in one week from Bugle. That said, this selection is down to one Romain Virgo. The riddim is a massive one and since we are bucking trends, I would highly recommend the Kabaka Pyramid on this riddim.

Smile A While – Jahmiel

Positive vibes from young Jahmiel on this one. Absolutely love the message and I think the song is very well balanced.

Feel Your Pain – Jesse Royal

Beautiful tune from an artist whose middle name must be Consistency. The amount of solid tunes
Jesse Royal releases is really to be commended. This tune has two versions on Spotify and both have really nice vibes.

Selah – Morgan Heritage

This song picks itself really. Serious vibes from the Morgan family. The message is sound and the music is on point. Not sure if I can add much else.

Hope you enjoy these conscious vibes. Until the next time…
